Director Chris Buck revealed that "Frozen 2" will still center on Anna and Elsa but will portray society's present-day struggles. Disney's long-awaited sequel will reportedly open in cinemas on November 2018.
After months of depending in plot predictions and fan theories, the fans of the hit animated film "Frozen" have finally gotten their long-awaited legitimate update of the upcoming sequel. In an interview with MTV, director Chris Buck discussed a little bit on "Frozen 2". "We're just starting," Buck said. "Jen [Lee] and I are just getting back into the story room together and throwing ideas around." The 54-year-old director revealed that they have come up with a strong concept which both of them is already excited to work on.
Of course, "Frozen 2" will still focus on the two strong female leads. While he did not dive deeper into what exactly Queen Elsa and Princess Anna will be venturing this time, he did confess that they are aiming to appeal to a modern audience through portraying the present struggles that people are facing today. They are aiming to deliver another meaningful message, reasoning that their movies could create a great impact on the lives of its viewers. "When the kids [watch] them, they watch them over and over again, and if we don't have a decent message in there, I think we've missed an opportunity," Buck explained.
"Frozen" was first released last November 2013. After grossing over $1.2 billion worldwide, it was followed by a 7-minute short film titled "Frozen Fever" which debuted in front of every "Cinderella" screening in March. Also in the same month, the long-awaited sequel of the hit animated film was confirmed by Disney, earning a lot of rumors and predictions afterwards. So far, the only information disclosed to the public is Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, Idina Menzel and Jonathan Groff's return as Anna, Olaf, Elsa and Kristoff respectively.
Disney will reportedly release "Frozen 2" on November 21, 2018.
