‘Doctor Who’ Season 9 Update: Showrunners Excited For The New Role of Maise Williams

By

"Doctor Who" Season 9 updates fans with the new cast member. The showrunner Steven Moffat says that Maise Williams is the new member of the long-running TV series with a recurring role in the upcoming installment.

TV.Com says that the full trailer of Doctor Who Season 9 doesn't give much as to the new added cast member. Viewers are left wondering who is Maisie Williams playing this upcoming season? During the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, Steven Moffat revealed that the "Game of Thrones" star will be playing a new character who is not someone related to Doctor's past.

The details of her role is still kept under wraps but from the latest video clip, it appears like they know each other. Would Moffat be lying about it? If the GOT star is not from Doctor's past, why did he say "YOU!?" when she removed her sort of mask?

Hollywood Reporter reports that BBC America is constantly teasing out pieces from the season 9 of "Doctor Who." The showrunner has said good things about the participation of Williams in the upcoming season. When Moffat was asked during the TCA summer press tour about the role of the new cast member, he said that her character in the series is a great part and that she's terrific portraying the role, and that would develop in an unexpected way. "Once you see what she's up to in the show, you'll appreciate what a clever [idea that was]. It's a significant role. We're not throwing her away," he answered.

The new video clips also expose the villains of the next seasons that Doctor would be fighting against. Obviously, they look hideous.

Screen Rant also reveals that the upcoming season of Doctor Who will come in 2 parts premiere with respective titles "The Magician's Apprentice" and "The Witch's Familiar." However, fans are but doubtful for Moffat penning for the premiere since he is known for his being divisive. The only assurance that the fans have for the two-parts premiere episode is that Hettie MacDonald will be directing it. MacDonald directed "Blink," which has been the highly regarded episodes in the whole works of this long running series.

Since the producers of the series are fond of revealing bits and pieces of the next installment, avid viewers can look forward to the next revelation of Williams' character. Perhaps, there would be more when they would release a new trailer before its release date.

"Doctor Who Season 9" premieres on September 19.
