The frustrating effects of Stagefright bug in Fallout Shelter game application

By

The attack of Stagefright bug is causing some mobile applications not to work properly. One of the applications is a game called, Fallout Shelter. The phone keeps on freezing and asks memory space when at the middle of the play or when it is accessed. These effects caused players to lose the game and eventually, lose their money.

The mechanism of the virus is it resets all progress of the game by deceiving players to start a new vault but fails to save files as shown by 0 kb. Another mechanism is it crashes the game while at the middle of the play. These effects in Fallout Shelter by the Stagefright bug virus result in irreversible loss of progress and money, Forbes reported.

This is frustrating to players who are keen to the progress of Fallout Shelter game as displayed in Reddit. Both Android and iOS versions seem affected by the virus of the game. Most of the complaints are about their money on lunchboxes and failure to save vault-building progress. Some even spent up to $40 for the game, which gives them much disappointment to the virus.

Forbes tried to reach Bethesda, the developer of Fallout Shelter game, if it has any work around for the lost data files and lost purchases, but the developer does not have anything to say at the moment.

Fallout Shelter has been famous since its release in summer, TechRaptor noted. It made more than $5.1 million in sales within 2 weeks of its initial launch in iOS version, while Android version just launched in August 13.

On one hand, smartphone companies are doing their part to combat the spread of Stagefright bug. Google and other smartphone firms are sending an OTA for security updates to be installed in phones. This will continue until the code for virus' loopholes is released by the security developers.
