Since the Stagefright Hack created a stir in the Android world, Google and their partners which include service providers and manufacturers like Verizon, have been coming up with fixes to fight the virus. The cumulative efforts of the tech giants have so far produced the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update with Stagefright Hack fix with hopes to finally patch the hole in the system.
Of all the carriers, Verizon was the first to act on the issue and offered the Android 5.1.1 Update with Stagefright Fix update to their Samsung Galaxy S6 And S6 Edge users, Gotta Be Mobile reported.
Aside from the Stagefright Hack patch the update will also bring additional features including caller ID for advanced calling, the ability to turn off parallax to give wallpapers the motion effect and a camera feature that allows exposure value to be adjusted from the camera viewfinder, GSM Arena published.
In related news, IT World published an article claiming that Google's patch is nowhere near in fixing the Stagefright Hack. The article noted that Google has been building patches since the threat came into the picture, but the search engine giant falls short all the time.
Zimperium, a security firm, discovered the big hole in Google's Android and created detector which will help Android user to detect if the hack has affected their device. The website also pitched in some tips in order to protect oneself against the hack.
IT World said that since the hack comes in through an infected MMS, disabling the auto fetch feature of the android hone will do the trick. It also cited that it should be disabled on Google Hangouts and Messages.
Stagefright has turn around the android world since its discovery and Google as well as their partners such as Verizon and Samsung have never been busy with the hopes to protect their customers from the virus, and with the Android 5.1.1 update everyone hopes that it will finally fix the issue.
