James Cameron's 'Avatar 2' may feature the depths of Pandora's Underwater World using customized brand new filming technology. Disney also recently unveiled its World of Avatar theme park in Florida's Animal Kingdom during the D23 Expo held last weekend.

In an article by Movie News Guide, director James Cameron explained the reason behind delay of the new film first scheduled for release on 2016 and now pushed back to 2017. He said that it was due to technological constraints. It was previously reported that the multi award-winning director had advanced filmmaking equipment made especially for the film.

He wanted to show a totally novel ecosystem in Pandora and this included various underwater scenes that needed cutting-edge motion-capture technology for higher frame rates, sharper visuals and realism.

Cameron also revealed in an earlier interview that they are working on an ocean environment reminiscent to those of his older works such as 1997's 'Titanic' and 1989's 'The Abyss'. The 61-year old Canadian is also known to be a deep-sea explorer and marine enthusiast. Through his years working in the film industry, he contributed various underwater filming technologies as well as remote vehicle systems.

In another article by We Got This Covered, it was reported that Cameron intended to film ambitious sequels for 'Avatar' back-to-back. This may be why his latest motion-capture technology took quite a while to complete since he planned to take on more underwater scenes and use a submarine for it. Even though production had been intensive, FOX chairman and CEO Jim Gianopolus expressed optimism for a 2017 release date while respecting Cameron's meticulous pacing.

According to Digital Spy, Disney recently revealed the newest addition to their Animal Kingdom amusement park in Florida during the recent D23 Expo in Anaheim, California last August 16, 2015. Executives unveiled an Avatar-themed land called 'Pandora: World of Avatar'. The name was also posted on their official Twitter account @DisneyParks. The park is said to be launched together with Cameron's follow-up on 2017.

It was written that the new theme park will feature attractions such as the Sunset Kilimanjaro Safari where visitors could explore the African savannah engulfed in a magnificent sunset. Guests will also be treated to wild animals such as hyenas and African wild dogs.

The D23 announcement also revealed the planned launch of two other theme parks such as the Star Wars themed attraction in Disneyland and a Toy Story land in Disney's Hollywood Studios.

'Avatar 2' is set for release on December 25, 2017, according to IMDB.com. It will feature the return of Zoe Zaldana as Neytiri and Sam Worthington as Jake Scully. The first film was released last 2009 and met with massive critical and mainstream success. It earned $2 billion in the box office against a $237 million budget and won several Oscars at the 82nd Academy Awards ceremony including Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects.
