"Oujia 2" will soon be in its productions as the Universal studio summons "Oculus" director, Mike Flanagan, to helm the sequel of this teen horror flick. To add, the studio also hires Jeff Howard to co-write with Flanagan the screenplay.
According to Empire Online, the first installment of "Ouija" might be frustrating to many viewers but a sequel of this teen horror film is already inevitable. The first movie has a worldwide gross ticket sales of under $100 million.
Since the "Oculus" team, spearheaded by Mike Flanagan, has already signed to work on the project, the sequel of "Ouija" has now become an interesting film to look forward to. Mike Flanagan and Jeff Howard had worked together in making the highly effective horror flick "Oculus." But it is not only the two of them that are being summoned by the studio, Annalise Basso, who played the role of young Karren Gillan in the above-mentioned film, will be taking the lead role in "Ouija 2." So this movie project is a reunion for the three of them.
The plot of "Ouija2" as mentioned by Slash Film would still be about the haunted board but the characters are already different. According to the news, the character of Annalise would be using the board in an attempt to call on her father who just have died. However, it says the plot is similar to "Insidious Chapter 3," although the the daughter wanted to get in touch with her mother. But trusting the work of Mike Flanagan and Jeff Howard, they might be shaking things up for the next installment of the "Ouija."
Screen Crush says that the Universal studio will still be teaming up with Platinum Dunes and Hasbro in producing the sequel.
As of the moment, the movie is scheduled to hit theaters on October 21, 2016.
