Mad Max 2 update shows up in any online news every now and then. The most recent talks about George Miller wanting to name the next installment as "Wasteland." There has no formal announcement from the creator or the studio but it seems that the sequel of the movie is becoming inevitable.
Mad Max: Fury Road takes the number spot in rotten tomatoes, getting mostly positive reviews from viewers. Movie Guide says that "Mad Max: Fury Road" has been declared a blockbuster and has earned a $370 million worldwide. Thus inspire the creator George Miller to continue working on the post-apocalyptic plot line.
In fact, from the report of Movie Guide, Miller has already told his plans to do the sequel with a title "Wasteland."
But fans would not only expect for the Mad Max 2. Youth Health Magazine reports that there might be a possibility that a spin-off would be coming too since the character of Furiosa is also well-received by the viewers. However, Charlize Theron didn't confirmed of the sequel nor the spin-off of "Mad Max" franchise. When she was interviewed by USA Today, she said that she wasn't sure of the sequel or the spin-off. She also said that "Wasteland" and the spin-off are all news to her. She might be telling the truth or she is not in the liberty yet to disclose any development about the next installment.
Cheat Sheet also reveals that Charlize Theron has discussed the history of Furiosa in her interview with Entertainment Weekly. She said that the backstory of Furiosa wasn't really captured in the Mad Max reboot film. She said that Furiosa could not procreate, so that's what her character is only good for in the story. She was also stolen from her place, the green place that she was hoping to go back to in the "Road To Fury." So when she couldn't procreate, she was discarded. As a result she was hiding among "the war pups in the world of mechanics," while staying with them she was treated like she was one of the men because she grew up like them.
Learning the background of Furiosa, people could say that there are a lot of materials to draw from as to developing a spin-off or sequel. But as of the moment, everything remains to be seen.
