BattleCON Steps Up from Tabletop Card Game to BattleCON Online

By

BattleCON Online will be the digital platform for playing BattleCON. Level 99 Games, the creator of its tabletop version, is trying to raise funds through Kickstarter to make the full-featured version of BattleCON available to Web, PC, Mac, Android, and iOS devices.

Originally a board game, this card-based duel between two fighters gives players a wide variety of unique tactics; and combinations which take down rivals in fast-paced duels. Once the project ends in Kickstarter, the funds gathered will be allocated for the purchase of the software license for the engine (Unity), art and development costs for the website, characters, and new modes.

But according to Brad Talton in their Kickstarter campaign video, they went to the crowdfunding platform not just for the finances, but to have players help in the development of the game - by building a community, beta testing, and by suggesting what features may be added up in the process. Talton is the creator of BattleCON and one of the founders of Level 99.

The game's beta launch will be in December, and will have 10 playable fighters, as well as multiple costumes for each of these fighters. This is exclusive for Kickstarter backers of the game and some people in Level 99 Games.

As of date, according to a report at The Cliqist, the campaign already heaped 2.5 times over its original funding goal of $10,000. The project has about 500 backers already. The report adds that the game looks promising and has a strategic depth which is lacking in many card games today. A demo reel is available in the game's Kickstarter page.

The game, once launched, will follow the free-to-play model popular in games like Heroes of the Storm, League of Legends, and others.

Level 99 Games is a professional development studio and publisher based in Albuquerque, NM known for board games such as BattleCON, Pixel Tactics, and Argent: The Consortium. It has now revived its digital department and BattleCON will be their front runner app once the project gets running. The card game is considered to be one of the highest rated tabletop games of all time. It is also the second highest rated Kickstarter game of all time (among games with over 500 ratings).
