For people thinking Android 6.0 Marshmallow is just about Android Pay and fingerprint sensor support? Think again. Samsung is on its best Android update for Galaxy smartphones and tablets by giving a shot to a few improvements and changes.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow is bringing to Samsung Galaxy Note 5, S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6 advanced features like the new user interface, live Youtube streaming, improved Samsung Pay, and Apps Edge, among others. Although all these were launched just recently, Marshmallow is improving these key Samsung features for a more convenient and fun user experience.
Aside from Apps Edge and Samsung Pay, the Marshmallow update also is expected to improve other software native of Samsung like UHG upscaler and Vacuum Tube Amp Pro.
Although Android 6.0 is scheduled for a September official over-the-air release, reports tell that the update is currently running to Samsung Galaxy devices in its native land South Korea. According to the same reports, Samsung is making visual and audio improvements aside from the wireless payment service.
Marshmallow also takes with it minor changes in app icons. However, disadvantages also are making rounds in the rumor mill, including the inability to save images in RAW format and inability to manually control the shutter speed of camera.
With Android Pay, Samsung Galaxy owners can pay through Google's payment service. It operates by unlocking phone near a near-field communication (NFC) terminal without having to launch any app. Android Pay will be pre-installed on devices AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless.
Android Pay comes with a fingerprint sensor. The sensor houses standard API to various phones to enable the payment service.
Google is also providing a support for Android phones with the Type-C USB which was pioneered by Apple. Other exciting features added are app linking, enhanced app permissions, custom Chrome tabs, and better battery management.
