Sony Pictures has had different writers work on the script of "Masters of the Universe" for years now. This time they hired "Thor" scriptwriter Christopher Yost to polish or rewrite the script. Fans and producers alike are looking forward to a finale on the script that would meet or even go beyond their expectations.
Screen Rant reports that Sony has been trying to formulate a viable script in an attempt to recreate the "Masters of the Universe" movie. Warner Bros initially handled the project given by Mattel, Inc. Sony pictures with Joel Silver leading the way took control in 2009. Things didn't go the way each wanted it to happen so they eventually went their separate ways. Initial writers that tried to give life to the movie were "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" writer Evan Daugherty, "Kick-ass 2" writer Jeff Wadlow, then "Pirates of the Caribbean" writer Terry Rossio. The most recent effort made by Sony is their hiring of Christopher Yost.
Game Spot writes that the first "Master of the Universe" was launched by Cannon Films in 1987. The lead actor was Dolph Lundgren who played a blond long-haired prince turned warrior who was known as He-Man. The movie was launched a little bit too late as this was an attempt to put it on film following the cartoon. The cartoon aired for two years after the comic book series. Mattel, Inc. launched a toy line in 1982.
Tapping Christopher Yost to do a rewrite on "Masters of the Universe" may be a sensible thing to do according to Nerdist. Yost is currently co-writer to Chris Kyle on the 2017 launch of "Thor: Ragnarok." Putting into consideration also that he wrote for Marvel Studios on the movies such as "Thor" in 2011 and played a part in rewriting the sequel "Thor: The Dark World" in 2013. The common factor between "Thor" and "He-Man" is that they are both princes', both largely muscular and have long blond hair. Coming from the comic book and animated series to the big screen seems to be a forte' for Yost.
Sony Pictures is surely having their hands full for the "Masters of the Universe" remake. With the different changes of writers that they have hired the years could add up all the more. With the choice of hiring Christopher Yost to make a rewrite, the movie reboot will hopefully come to a conclusion to the delight of many fans around the world.
