During the Iowa State Fair, actress Ellen Page, and Texas senator, Ted Cruz had a heated debate about LGBT rights. Ellen Page has said to have asked the senator about the topic of the persecution of gays in the workplace. The heated exchange continued with the senator answered back to Ellen Page, citing his views in discrimination and inflicting some Christian beliefs.
The actress, Ellen Page, asked the senator and presidential candidate about his opposition that would ban discrimination based on a person's sexual orientation, Independent UK shared. Ellen Page, 28, had a big reveal last year about her being gay and stood up for LGBT rights. Ted Cruz emphasized that no one has the right to force someone to abandon their belief; thus, this justifies that companies shouldn't be blamed about firing gay employees just because of their biblical or Christian beliefs.
Elle Page found Ted Cruz's statement to be very discriminating about LGBT people. And questioned the senator and presidential candidate's statement on whether he is going to use that thought in segregation. Ted Cruz also said that he was happy enough to have answered the actress's question and does not want to push it to a debate, ABC News shared in a report.
Ted Cruz and Ellen Page are said to be both Canadian-born. Their heated conversation went through over five minutes and thus caught everyone's attention during the Iowa State Fair while the senator and presidential candidate was grilling some barbeques.
Moreover, with the exchange of words and thoughts, Ellen Page have said to pursue more asking questions when she felt that Ted Cruz was faltering about his thought with the LGBT community - thus, she found it very discriminatory. CNN Politics said that the debate ended when the Republican presidential candidate cut the conversation off.
Ted Cruz was also asked if he know or recognized Ellen Page as an actress, and he answered no.
