According to developer, Arkane Studios, Emily Kaldwin will be the protagonist of the upcoming game. She will take on the role of a highly-efficient assassin that typically bends the law while pursuing her objectives tactically. As reported by Vg247, Harvey Smith gave some answers regarding the entire role of Emily.
Smith was quoted, "There's something kind of magical about Emily for us and the game. As soon as we finished Dishonored 1 we began talking about how what we really felt energy about was continuing Emily's story. What kind of person would she grow up to be, what kind of empress would she be. As you find out in the game, what kind of outlaw would she be." Furthermore, the lead character Emily was raised by Corvo during the first installment, when she was only 10 years old, and the connection between him and Emily was a rather strong one.
The time frame of Dishonored 2 takes place 15 years after the said incident, and Emily being already 25 years old, according to Christian Post. If a player will choose to play as Emily, they will have distinct powers for their use, one of which is the "Far Reach" ability that enables her to grapple ledges and building tops to travel freely. One more awaited trait is the "Shadow Walk", but as of the moment, has no concluded details yet.
