Apple is recalling the shipment of iPhone 6 Plus because of its camera that produces blurry pictures. The smartphone company created a specific page for reports from the users who are experiencing such issue. Apple also promised to replace the iSight camera for free in the event that it falls under the affected range of serial numbers.
Apple has been receiving reports from iPhone 6 Plus users that the phone produces blurry photos from its iSight camera. The company found out that the iPhones that were affected were primarily sold between September 2014 and January 2015.
Photos become blurred because of a material that doesn't work in its camera. Apple said in UPI, "A component that may fail causing your photos to look blurry."
From Apple's support page on August 21, it posted that small percentage of iPhone 6 Plus handsets were affected. Along with its post, was to encourage the users who are experiencing the issue to report the serial number of the iPhone. The iSight camera will be replaced free of charge once proven that the phone has the affected serial number. Apple also recommended to create back up files from users before having the phone repaired.
Further, users have options to go to Apple's authorized service provider, retail store, and technical support if the iSight camera is eligible for replacement. Apple's page added that users should not go to their wireless partners because they are not participating in such replacement program.
On the other hand, the iPhone's warranty will still be applied from the day the phone model was bought. It means that warranty will not be extended after the iSight camera was replaced.
On the other hand, CNET said that iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were cited for its high quality photo taking skills. The report added that more than two-thirds of iPhone 6 Plus have already been sold since its release. It is also considered as the hottest selling phone in US when it was launched.
Apple did not mention on the specific material of its iSight camera that failed.
