All throughout the years, Doom has made a figurative killing with its outstanding reviews, sky-high ratings and raw, fan-craved brutality with each installment. However, time has moved forward and some of the titles may have been left behind. Now, Bethesda aims to get them back in the game, and this time, they are bringing in the big guns.
Bethesda, the developer of so many mass-selling game franchises, is seemingly eased by the fact that the upcoming installment of Doom will not falter. Due to the reminiscent old school feel with a few hints of improved traits, the next patch of the Doom franchise may just be able to exchange fires with other top-notch shooters in the industry, as reported by Softpedia.
As exhibited in the E3 2015 event, Doom has shown great in-game quality as early as then-putting together the older elements of the game and infusing it with new and exciting feats. As recently reported by Lazy Gamer, this may just be the dawn of a resurrection for the Doom franchise, as it does not seem to be immensely distant from today's current gen and next gen shooters.
The goal now of the publishers of the game is to somewhat go past the normal success of Doom for itself, and compete on a more intense caliber with other games that belong in the first-person shooter genre.
As recently delivered by Game Spot, the combination of the vintage Doom gameplay plus the fact that it is breaking away from the conventional rules of FPS games such as Call of Duty and Battlefield is one advantageous factor that the developers are deeply looking into.
Pete Hines, Vice President of PR and Marketing, was quoted, "Doom is fast-paced, very visceral and sort of incentivizes you to be aggressive. If you are low on health, the best way to stay alive is to find a demon and kill. If you stop taking fire for a little bit, your health doesn't go back up. It has some old-school sensibilities but it is doing it in a very modern, fresh next-gen way. It can go toe-to-toe with those really big shooters."
Given all these critical statistics, Doom is looking insanely good for all the long-time fans who have followed the game through the ages, and safe to say, even those who are willing to give the upcoming game a first try. However, the stir of bullets and gore is yet to hit the shelves, which will sometime next year on the next generation hardware of the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
