Several media outlets claim that Leonardo Dicaprio's beard has fleas. However, on Sunday, the CEO of production company New Regency, Brad Weston, defended the creepy allegations, saying it has no basis and it is completely a hoax.
Now the shooting for "The Revenant" is over, Weston said that Dicaprio, 40, can now shave off his beard. The production CEO claimed that the actor only has to grow his beard as the story calls for it.
"DiCaprio has had the full beard for months having grown it last summer before heading to the wilderness outside of Calgary, Alberta, to make the period adventure film with Birdman director Alejandro Iñárritu," Weston told the Daily Mail.
"The final battle scene in snow in Argentina at the start of August, all the rest of the work lies in the editing room."
Weston added there's no need for the "Titanic" star to maintain his beard except if he wanted it.
"There's no reason now why DiCaprio can't shave off his beard as there are no planned re-shoots, contrary to other published reports."
Rumors of Leonardo Dicaprio's beard have fleas came on the heels after a source close to the 40-year-old actor told the National Enquirer that she saw a flea nesting in his big bushy beard, according to Metro. Leo was not bothered about it from the start, but it was reported that he's now troubled about the nasty news.
Gossip Cop was fast to check if Dicaprio's beard rumors were true or not. According to the busting bad dish website, there's no truth behind the false allegations. They have checked it with theirs and DiCaprio's common friends who claim it as "absurd" but also "beyond untrue." The insider adds "There isn't a hair of truth to it."
In "The Revenant," where DiCaprio was seen with long beard, he portrays the role of an 1820s frontiersman who was left for dead by his companions after he was attacked by a bear. After surviving, he will search for revenge in the wilderness. According to some news, his role is viable for him to win an Oscar award.
