Lucy Liu Baby: ‘Charlie's Angels’ Star Reveals Her New Bundle of Joy

By

Lucy Liu is a proud mom of a baby boy named Rockwell Lloyd Liu. The actress proudly showed her bundle of joy in an Instagram post on Thursday, August 27. She had the baby through gestational surrogate.

"Introducing the new little man in my life, my son Rockwell Lloyd Liu," she captioned the photo. "In [love]!"

The baby news was confirmed by Liu's rep who told Daily Mail that the "Elementary" star is now a mother.

"I can confirm that Lucy Liu is the proud mother of Rockwell Lloyd Liu, brought into the world via gestational carrier,' the rep said, adding: 'Mom and baby are healthy and happy," according to USWeekly.

The news comes as a surprise to her fans as she is known to be reserved with her personal life.

According to Baby Center, Gestational Surrogacy is a fixed arrangement where a woman carries and delivers a baby for someone else. The parents are called the "intended parents" and are involved in the whole pregnancy. The woman who carries the baby is known as the gestational carrier or gestational surrogate.

In the process, the egg comes from the intended mother while the sperm comes from the intended father, who could be a donor. This means, the baby is not genetically connected to the gestational surrogate. It can be done through intrauterine insemination or IVF-in vitro fertilization.

The 46-year-old actress has been linked to actor Will McCormack, writer-film director Zach Helm and businessman Noam Gottesman in the past.

Back in 2013, the actress dished to Daily Mail that she's loveless and she's hoping that one day, she'll also find her true love.

'It's a mixed bag right now... It's a giant question mark for me, as well. I wish I could answer - I wish I knew the answer myself," Lucy tells the tabloid.

On becoming a mother, the Asian actress claims her wish in becoming a mother. She hinted out that she could have a baby alone.

"It just hasn't happened yet,' adding that she might do it alone at some point."

Lucy Liu found fame in long-running hit TV series Ally McBeal. She starred and directed an episode of "Elementary," the crime drama that also features Johnny Lee Miller.
