'The Chronicles of Naria: The Silver Chair' script by David Magee was announced completed but recent reports revealed it as just an elaborate hoax. Producer Douglas Gresham admitted that he was a "Narnia purist" and insisted that the fourth film in the franchise will have to stick close to the novel it is based from.
According to Screen Rant, McGee posted an update on his Twitter account saying confirming the completion of the script for the upcoming film. He said, "Completed the final draft of The Silver Chair today. I've had the immense pleasure to work on the project for over a year now. So fulfilling." The 'Life of Pi' and 'Finding Neverland' screenwriter was pegged to write the live-action adaptation of the fourth book in the classic children's series by Christian author C.S. Lewis just last 2013.
It was revealed that the timeline of 'The Silver Chair' would follow events after the third film 'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader'. An aged King Caspian asks for Aslan's help to find his missing son, Prince Rilian, and the great lion of Narnia himself brings in Eustace Scrubb, the Pevensies' cousin, and another child Jill Pole to assist him. Scrubb was portrayed by Will Poulter in the preceding movie.
The short-lived good news may have offered fans some relief however it was reported by The Examiner that the script announcement turned out to be a hoax. Websites NarniaWeb.com and NarniaFans.com quickly retracted their published news update regarding Magee's infamous tweet. It turned out that Magee's so-called public and private accounts, @mageedavid_ and @davidmagee62, did not belong to the writer at all and that he was working on getting the two deleted.
It was confirmed, however, that 'The Silver Chair' is still very much pushing through and that Magee continues to work on his drafts for the film. Basing on its development, it may be that the fourth film may come out some time in late 2017.
In another article by MNR Daily, one of the film's producers, Douglas Gresham, revealed that they will stick as close to C.S. Lewis' novel as possible in comparison to the development of previous cinematic adaptations.
He said, "The problem I suppose is that I'm too much of a Narnia Purist. I see any changes as being almost being sacrilegious. So of course I have to argue with everybody else on the team and we usually come to a fine compromise somewhere along the way".
'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair' is an upcoming fantasy-adventure film in the film franchise by Walden Media. It is an adaptation of the fourth book in C.S. Lewis' seven-book series and so far only three have been released in theaters to date. The series focuses on the adventures of children in a magical world created by the great lion Aslan.
