Nintendo's extremely popular game, Super Smash Bros. 4, is highly speculated to add Yacht Club Games' Shovel Knight on its upcoming DLC character release. In a recent leak that surfaced online, Professor Layton is also said to be joining the game's roster.

Rumors have been rife that the Super Smash Bros. 4 next DLC character will feature the Shovel Knight from the well-received side-scrolling game of same name. According to iDigital Times, the recent announcement that Shovel Knight would be receiving its first official third-party amiibo has even fueled up the latest buzz.

However, game developer Yacht Club Games has been mum on the subject. When Yacht Game's boss Sean Velasco was asked to comment about Shovel Knight as the next DLC character to be included in the game, he said, "No, we don't have anything to say about that."

Although, Velasco discussed about the confirmed amiibo for Shovel Knight and even expressed his enthusiasm to reveal to fans stating, "We're the first third-party amiibo being made. Nintendo, they do this thing where they go to developers and tell them what's next. "We brought up amiibo, and they gave us a run-down of everything. We never thought we could do a third-party amiibo, but that's what Nintendo's plan was."

Fans can check out the trailer via Yacht Club Games website.

Based on the trailer shown, Shovel Knight amiibo will unlock new co-op mode feature for Shovel Knight game on Wii U. For the game's 3DS version, gamers can unlock never-before-seen new challenge stages and also customize gear not considering what console is used. No release date has been announced at the time of this writing, however.

In earlier news, a leak surrounding the next Super Smash Bros. 4 DLC character for Wii and 3DS surfaced when a fan account set up for a promo campaign has revealed that Professor Layton will be added to join Lucas, Roy and Ryu in this popular Nintendo game.

The said fan asked Christopher R. Miller who is the voice actor of Professor Lyaton on Twitter if his inclusion in the Super Smash Bros. 4 Wii U IMDB page hints that the good professor will be added to the roster. Miller's post is as good as a confirmation if there was in fact one.

However, this new intel on Super Smash Bros. 4 next DLC character has neither been confirmed nor denied by Nintendo as of this time, hence, fans have to hold their excitement for now until an official reveal will be announced.
