Android 6.0 Marshmallow's over-the-air release is officially coming to HTC One devices as an executive revealed the big news late last week. Marshmallow will update phones including One M9, One M8, and One M7.
HTC One M9, One M8, and One M7 are in the waiting list for the upcoming Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Marshmallow is set to release in late September after its final developer preview will finish.
HTC executive Jeff Gordon confirmed in a statement the good news saying that recent models will first receive the new software. Earlier last month, HTC senior officer Mo Versi first revealed that Marshmallow is indeed coming to HTC One phones.
Versi has been the insider who gives generous tips to HTC fans regarding phone updates.
Although the exact date has not been revealed for now, some reports point out that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow is coming to phones, including that of other topnotch brands in the market, before the year comes to an end. Expectedly, Google's own Nexus 5 smartphones manufactured by LG and Huawei are expected to debut the new software aside from the developer preview's use of Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow is expected to bring in new features and several improvements from Lollipop, including Android Pay, support for USB Type-C and fingerprint sensor, app links, enhanced app permissions and so much more.
Android Pay is a card-less mobile operating system which will replace Google Wallet. It uses both NFC and host card emulation method. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon are expected to pioneer this technology. Chrome tabs can now be made personalized by adding web views and more customizations with theme and fonts.
Meanwhile, app links allow directing to other software, app, sites, using a link from a certain location. Support for fingerprint sensor wills strengthen run of Android Pay while the USB Type-C support will enable users devise all-in ports.
