"Kung Fu Panda 3" pays tribute to the forthcoming J.J. Abrams' "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" with the release of a brand new teaser entitled, "The Father Rises." It features the father of Po named Li, voiced by Bryan Cranston, Po voiced by Jack Black and Master Crane dubbed by Dustin Hoffman.
The teaser starts with a raspy voice with the text "Nothing can prepare you for the legend" emerge on the black screen. Po's long lost father Li is shown climbing the stairs. Getting tired with the climbing and finally reaches Po who is standing at the top of the stairs, he says, "I am your father."
He subsequently lies down on the stairs heavy breathing like Darth Vader and says, "What's with all the stairs." Po is stunned looking at his father when Crane is shown asking Po who the guy is and why is he breathing so heavily. The teaser ends with Crane telling Po that heavy breathing of Li is creepy.
The teaser trailer gives a reference on how Po and Luke Skywalker are the same, having a less-ideal father. Although Li is not as bad as Darth Vader, he still is a handful for Po in the upcoming "Kung Fu Panda 3."
The third installment for the successful franchise will be focusing on the father and son relationship of the Panda hero Po and his father Li. After years of separation, Po and Li reunite and start patching things together. They travel to a paradise-like sanctuary for Pandas based on Sichuan China. It is where Po meets amusing new Panda characters.
In a call of duty as a Kung Fu master, Po must face a super villain named Kai voiced by J.K. Simmons. Kai is a bull equipped with horns and leather armor with weapons of jade swords attached to long chains. Moreover, Kai also possesses supernatural powers which make him hard to be defeated.
The directors of the movie are Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Alessandro Carloni from the screenplay by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger. Most of the the voice cast of the two preceding Kung Fu Panda film will reprise their roles. The voice casts include Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Dustin Hoffman, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, Lucy Liu, David Cross, James Hong, Bryan Cranston, Rebel Wilson and J. K. Simmons.
