Rising Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi Corp. is entering the laptop department as it was reportedly brewing in the lab a killer MacBook rival. Xiaomi's latest revelation will shock Apple fans.

Although the PC industry's general sales performance has been dropping down to the core around the world, Xiaomi is taking a brave step forward by producing a laptop. According to inside sources, Xiaomi is set to announce in early 2016 that it is indeed manufacturing its first laptop. The killer device is expected to trample down Apple's topnotch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro series.

It furthers that Xiaomi is not only targeting the Cupertino giant as it also considers Hewlett-Packard Co. and Lenovo a stiff competition in the market, which according to sales reports are dominating a strong hold in the laptop industry as well. Lenovo's ThinkPad has been hugely lauded for its efficient and user-friendly design.

The same sources added that the Chinese phone manufacturer will kick off a rock-bottom price for its upcoming laptops as a strategy to overwhelm Apple and Lenovo sales. In another dimension, the company is reported that it has been in talks with Apple's strong competition Samsung Electronics regarding the production of 14-nm chips and screen displays. Other sources underscored that the company is also prepping to sign a deal with ODM partners Foxconn and Inventecc.

Xiaomi's upcoming laptop device is expected to sport a 15-inch display and run on Linux operating system. It will sell at US $471 only, says reports.

However, source tips this news still remains a consideration only for now since the Chinese tech firm has not released any official statement regarding the veracity of the reports.

Xiaomi is still at its fifth year in the mobile industry and yet it catapulted to a global recognition owing to its impressive high-end and mid-range smartphones. Its devices Mi 4, Mi 4I, Mi 3, Redmi 2 Prime, and Redmi Note 2 have been received well by both critics and fans.

Xiaomi falls far in terms of production from largest smartphone manufacturers, running after Apple, Samsung, Lenovo-Motorola, LG, and Sony.
