Bill Cosby has been under fire in recent months after several people came forward accusing him of rape. Many celebrities have been vocal about the whole situation, defending the stand-up comedian-actor. The latest supporter that Cosby had was Damon Wayans. The comedian recently made statements that did not sit well with the public.
According to The Daily Mail, in an interview on Power 105.1 FM's The Breakfast Club with host Charlamagne Tha God, Wayans questioned the women accusing Cosby on why she waited this long to come out with their accusation. Several of the accusers though have already came out years before and Cosby being a rapist has been a well-known secret within the stand-up community.
According to the "Major Paine" star was asked if what could be a good advice to give to Cosby, Wayans answered "If I was him, I would divorce my wife, wink wink, give her all my money, and then I would go to a deposition. He also added he don't believe that he raped them. This drew ire from many plenty of people who believe that Cosby did rape all these women.
Another statement that landed Wayans in hot water was him calling the accusers "bitches". When the host informed the comedian that many of the women have already come out with their accusations years before, Wayans retorted, according to the Huffington Post, he says listening to them talk and saying they all go through it for the first time, he thought it was unbelievable. He also added some of the women are "unrapeable".
After being bashed by thousands of people on the internet, Wayans fired back according to Newsday. "Stop twisting my words," the comedian tweeted according to the report. Backpedaling, he also wished the victims that they get justice.
Wayans is not the first nor will he be the last to come to Cosby's aid. The public though would always have their say as the internet provides them a great platform to voice out their opinions. The legal proceedings are ongoing and it remains to be seen whether the courts will find Cosby guilty or not.
