Android 5.1.1 Lollipop's official over-the-air release is officially rolling out to Verizon units of Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6. The latest and final Lollipop update brings Stagefright fix, improvements and new features both from Samsung and Google.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 smartphones under Verizon Wireless are receiving the 5.1.1 software version of Android Lollipop with a bunch of new additional features and bug fixes. Features include improved Advanced Calling, wallpaper options, camera adjustments, Chinese Mandarin language, and a lot more.
The Advanced Calling feature adds Caller Name ID to screen calls and classify unknown callers. Names of classified callers in the call log will be seen and new callers are added to the contact list. The feature also enables owners to select what will appear to others when user calls with Picture ME.
Camera exposure values can be modified within the camera viewfinder. The exposure is alterable via pressing and moving the slider up or down.
Users also will have the chance to turn off Wallpaper motion effect. The update also comes with an additional live wallpaper options for the phone's lock screen wallpaper.
Also, Lollipop will bring support to Chinese Mandarin phonetic signs while Cangjie as input lingo will also be added. Meanwhile, a long-term solution to the widespread Stagefright vulnerability is also provided.
A fix will also update the problem related to the disappearance of mobile data icon from Quick Panel. Improvements on predictive text and auto-correction in native keypad are also included in the upgrade.
Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge units of T-Mobile and Sprint have already been updated with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. While US Cellular and AT&T have not rolled out the update yet to their versions of the devices.
Other smartphones expected to receive the update are Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 3, and Galaxy Note Edge, among others.
