Korean giant, Samsung, unleashed its first-ever Ultra HD (UHD) Blu-ray player at Berlin's IFA 2015 technology show. This announcement signifies a major leap for new film and TV resolution into the homes of Samsung users.

The Ultra HD Blu-ray player features a sleek curve design that goes well with Samsung Curved SUHD TVs. It is capable of providing four times the resolution and 64 times higher color expression compared to the standard Blu-ray. This UHD Blu-ray player can also upscale content in order to provide UHD resolution for any disc. Moreover, it supports UHD Blu-Ray disc playback and 4K streaming services are available

This innovative player comes with a new HDMI 2.0a port at the back to deliver faster data speeds required to pump HDR content to compatible televisions. There will also be an option of High Dynamic Range (HDR) to boost the contrast, giving finer details in the highlights and shadows. It also emphasizes Samsung's Smart TV platform with support for streaming video services like YouTube, Netflix, Instant Video, and Amazon.

During the IFA technology show, Samsung has also announced that they have partnered with a number of firms, including Netflix, Canal Plus, Amazon, and British Telecom, in order to deliver more UHD content worldwide. The company confirmed that it is still committed to expanding the ecosystem for Ultra HD or 4K content. This UHD Blu-ray player will be available early next year.

Aside from the first UHD Blu-ray players, Samsung has also launched a range of new Super Ultra HD (SUHD) televisions, which have higher image quality from the same UHD resolution as their older stablemates. These have HDMI 2.0a connectivity that works with HDR video for further boosting picture quality.

The UHD Blu-ray player is allegedly priced at less than $500. Surely, all Samsung users and spectators could not wait for these new discoveries to come out in the market.
