Ed Skrein denies walking away from ‘Game of Thrones’, blames ‘behind-the-scenes politics’ instead

Former "Game of Thrones" actor Ed Skrein, who played the role of Daario Naharis, was cut from the show and was replaced by another actor. Months after leaving with no explanation, the 32-year-old actor finally opened up on what happened and why he left.

Eonline notes that Skrein was replaced by 34-year-old Dutch actor Michiel Huisman when the fourth season started. There were rumors that his involvement in "The Transporter Refueled" was the reason for his exit in the show. But recently, the actor slammed these allegations and finally revealed why he left. "That's what been reported in the press but it was a lot more political than that," he said.

In a report from International Business Times, Skrein revealed that 'behind-the-scenes politics' was what creally aused his departure from HBO's popular show. "My plan was to stay with 'Game of Thrones' for the long haul. That was always my plan. I would have loved to," Skrein continued. "It was a wonderful experience, but politics led to us parting ways."

The actor reportedly had every intention to finish the series. However, due to the so-called 'politics' happening behind the camera, the actor's presence on the show was cut short. "This is a complicated industry and there's always politics involved," he added.

According to Winter Is Coming, the actor insisted that the decision to end his part on the series was not as straightforward as it was made to seem by the press. Skrein denied reports claiming that he walked away from the show. He also said that he would never walk away from a project like GOT -not with the series' incredible crew. Skrein reportedly made a special friendship with co-star Jacob Anderson, who plays Greyworm in the show.

The actor did not go further into specifics but at least his and the show's fans already received the explanation they have all been waited for. Some of the fans may prefer Skrein over Huisman, but the latter surely has different attributes that makes his portrayal interesting.
