Contrary to expectations, 'Crimson Peak', Guillermo del Toro's promising latest work, was not screened the Venice International Film Festival. Tom Hiddleston will grace other red carpet film festivals for his other films, I Saw the Light and High Rise.
Many had been surprised when 'Crimson Peak' did not play the Venice Film Fest. Speaking to Deadline, Venice Fest chief Alberto Barbera revealed that both he and del Toro wanted the movie to be in the Festival. However, despite numerous tries, the movie was excluded due to the "concern about the fantasy-horror pic being labeled as a festival film."
The Gothic romance movie was somehow expected to complete the triumvirate of world premieres by Mexican directors: Alfonso Cuaron, with Gravity in 2013 and Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu with Birdman in 2014.
Despite the movie's exclusion at the Venice Film Fest, the Crimson Peaks's lead actor, Tom Hiddleston, is not short of film festivals to attend. According to Venture Capital Post, Hiddleston is set to premiere 'I Saw the Light' for the Toronto International Film Festival and Calgary International Film Festival. His other motion picture, 'High Rise', will be screened at the Fantastic Fest, San Sebastian Film festival and BFI London Film Festival.
The 34-year-old British actor has also been one of the frontrunners for the awards seasons for his stellar performances in the above-mentioned movies.
Tom Hiddleston stars in 'Crimson Peak' alongside Charlie Hunnam, Mia Wasikowska and Jessica Chastain. According to Inverse, the movie is a foray to the Gothic hardcore. As well crafted del Toro movie, this will be a beautiful and unparalleled imagination and with his usual treatment of the female character, expect the heroine to "have gumption."
Since the 'Crimson Peak' is not screened at the Venice Film Festival, the movie will have its world premiere October 16, 2015. Meanwhile, critics, fans and moviegoers can catch a glimpse of Tom Hiddleston earlier through his other film festival premieres.
