All HTC One M9 Verizon owners can now rejoice, for an Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is now available. This great news was announced by Mo Versi, the Vice President for Product Management of HTC, through his personal Twitter account.
According to Versi's tweet, they already have received the update approval for Verizon-registered HTC One M9 devices. This includes Stagefright fix along with the enabled roaming capabilities for the 4G LTE bands 3 and 7. The Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for HTC One M9 under Verizon enables users to start using the feature that prevents a lost or stolen smartphone from undergoing a total factory reset to remove all the data until the true device owners are able to sign in with their Google accounts.
There are a lot of security issues that were discovered, including the Stagefright exploit that can be found on Android OS devices. Thus, fear was instigated among users for their smartphones might get hacked. Stagefright is a media library that handles several popular media formats. Its vulnerabilities are said to be the biggest security problems of Android ever since.
This bug lets the attacker incidentally execute code using multimedia text messages without the owner doing anything. The owner would not even realize that his device has been compromised, as the hacker can delete all the traces of the hacking process using the Stagefright exploit.
Additionally, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update includes a native Battery Saver for a longer battery life, new animations for Quick Settings that contains flashlight functionality, and an improvement on the 64-bit ART Runtime complier, which leads to a faster startup for the device's applications.
HTC One M9 users with Verizon subscription can now download the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. Each owner will definitely have peace of mind without thinking of the Stagefright exploit anymore. Definitely, all HTC One M9 users will experience the benefits of this update.
