Nick Diaz to Face Jail Time After Two DUI Charges, Not Coming Back To MMA Fighting?

By

MMA and UFC fighter Nick Diaz was arrested for DUI last June in California for the second time, the first being September of last year. After going to jail for his charges, questions have been arising as to whether he's coming back to the MMA again or not.

Diaz is sentenced to jail for two days on account of his DUI charges last year and a separate one for his arrest this year. In exchange of dropping his other charges, he pled no contest to the DUI charge according to MMA Junkie. He was charged for trying to destroy evidence when caught driving under the influence, and this has been agreed to be dropped. The 31-year-old fighter turned himself in at 10 in the morning last Thursday.

Diaz is still on the edge of being able to come back to fighting after he failed his drug test. He was tested positive for marijuana following his loss to Anderson Silva. He was then sentenced to two days in jail crediting one day as time served, spending only one night in jail as reported by Wrestling Inc. Ironically, Diaz was still waiting for his arraignment on his first arrest when he was arrested again for the second time. He was set to appear in front of the Nevada State Athletic Commission last month but a delay in the hearing was caused by a conflict within the attorneys involved in the case.

Latino Post reports that other than destroying evidence during his arrest, he also assaulted a police officer and drove without a valid license. He could have faced real jail time if he hasn't struck a deal with the prosecutors to drop other charges and his second DUI. His jail time is an added burden to being suspended by the NSAC due to the marijuana incident.

With all these issued on his shoulder, he will not likely be able to fight soon. However, when this is all over, he can be seen fighting on the ring again. He got off track and led him to these cases, but is hopeful he will soon come back to fight again.
