Despite being already popular worldwide, "X-Men" franchise actor Hugh Jackman still aims to be more as he wants to be the next "James Bond" star. The actor recently opened up about the role, and how he had already been asked.

According to The New Daily, last week, Hugh Jackman was featured in an episode of the Australian news program, "The Project." A special "Ask Hugh" segment was aired which encouraged fans to send in their questions for the actor via social media. One fan asked the actor 'if he was asked, would he consider being the next "James Bond"?' Apparently Hugh stated he'd "seriously consider it," and then went on explaining how he'd already been asked.

In a report from International Business Times, he had already been asked to be the iconic character more than ten years ago. During the time, Hugh Jackman was already known as Wolverine and was already committed to the "X-Men" series movie. This being so, the 46-year-old actor had to turn down the offer, stating "I was like 'Ah, I don't think it's the right time,' "But it was not an easy one to give up."

However, according A.V Club, Hugh has a few more competitors to face if he really wants to be the next 'James Bond.' After the list of the possible actors to take Daniel Craig's place already surfaced, Hugh Jackman may only get asked again if others turn the position down. Apparently, Idris Elba and Tom Hardy are possible 007 material, with the former having the bigger chance. But recently, there's been rumors floating online that David Beckham may be offered to take the spot.

It is not yet known who the next 007 agent will be, and there has been no date given when the announcement will be made. For now, Hugh Jackman can only hope that he will be offered the same proposal he received a decade ago. With the contract of the current "James Bond" star, Daniel Craig, coming to an end, the news of the 007 agent should soon be announced.
