The "Mega Man" movie is reportedly in the works and 20th Century Fox is said to be the foundation for the upcoming film. Working alongside Chernin Entertainment they hope this video game adaptation will become a hit.
IMDB reports that the "Mega Man" movie is currently on the work table for 20th Century Fox. They will be working together with Chernin Entertainment led by producer Peter Chernin. With video game adaptations trying to get into the motion picture category like Assassin's Creed, they hope to fare better with the production of this movie. The movie is a video game adaptation that originated from Japan which was formerly named "Rock Man." It was later franchised by Capcom and was later released by Nintendo Entertainment System (NeS) in 1987.
Michael Finfer and David Ready are managing the production of the "Mega Man" movie on the side of Chernin Entertainment, as reported by GameSpot. While Mike Ireland and Ryan Horrigan are representing 20th Century Fox. Capcom is quite experienced when it comes to turning game adaptations into the silver screen with the success of "Resident Evil" series. With "Resident Evil: Retribution" raking in $240 million and "Resident Evil Afterlife" a worldwide gross of $300 million.
Oprainfall shares that the 20th Century Fox also has the portfolio for game adaptations hitting the big screen like "Fantastic Four" and "Hitman: Agent 47." The "Mega Man" movie will hopefully become a hit as there are a lot of elements that can be built into the movie based on their game and comic series. The game version actually has a very wide loyal fan base but was experiencing rough patches over the years. With the MM Legacy Collection and the official MM Helmet people can say that they are exerting efforts in winning them back.
The game story features an android named Rock by its creator Dr. Light. He was meant to be an assistant and can learn to use any tool the instant he picked it up. But the treacherous Dr. Wily wants to dominate the world and created six robot masters. Rock then asks his creator to turn him into a battle robot to stop Dr. Wily and his robots. With the ability to copy his enemy's weapon when he defeats it and his own plasma torch he then becomes "Mega Man."
With the hopes that the game adaption will eventually become a hit, 20th Century Fox is working on the "Mega Man" movie. With the help of Chernin Entertainment, they are relying on the fan base that the game has accumulated over the years.
