After "The X Factor" failed to reach their desired ratings over the first two weeks of auditions, Simon Cowell has decided to bring in his secret weapon: 'One Direction' star, Louis Tomlinson. The 23-year-old heartthrob is reportedly the latest celebrity judge to join the panel at the show's boot camp.
According to Design & Trend, it has been reported that "The X Factor" boss, Simon Cowell will sign up One Direction singer, Louis Tomlinson, in order to boost ratings. After show's viewership were incredibly low compared to their rival show "Strictly Come Dancing," Cowell is planning on getting Louis involved in the show, and bringing him to the Judges' Houses stage as a celebrity judge.
A source stated that Simon knows One Direction has always brought in massive ratings. This being so, Simon believes that getting Louis involved will encourage more viewers to tune in to the famous ITV show. The singer is known as the most outspoken member of the band, and according to the source, Simon thinks he'll be perfect for telling the contestants exactly what he thinks.
The Mirror UK reported that Simon had already dropped hints that the 1D member will be appearing soon. During the beginning of "The X Factor," he mentioned the young artist could possibly make an appearance some time throughout this year's season.
Though it has not yet been confirmed whether he will be a celebrity judge, a representative from the show reportedly told the outlet that it is too early to confirm guest judges for the Judges' Houses; the representative also pointed out that any reports are purely speculative.
However, according to the Daily Mail UK, Louis has already spent a lot of time backstage at "The X Factor" during its previous run. He worked closely next to Simon during his time backstage to get to know how the industry works. Apparently the soon-to-be father of his first child also mentored last year's contestants, and watched them rehearse.
With the news out that Louis Tomlinson may be making a guest appearance on the show, and may even become a celebrity judge, the possibility of higher ratings stands with a high chance. Though it has not yet been confirmed, Simon Cowell, being the business man that he is, will probably make some sort of statement sooner or later to entice more viewers.
