The role-playing game "Project X Zone 2" from Monolith Software will add some unfamiliar faces, characters from other franchises and a SEGA Saturn icon in its character lineup. More details will come out as the game is nearing its release. The sequel will come out in Japan on November 22, while a Western release is slated in early 2016.
In the recent issue of Famitsu, it had revealed that Segata Sanshiro, the face in the SEGA Saturn advertisement, will be playable in the coming "Project X Zone 2", according to Twinfinite. Three characters are added up as well, which include Heichachi Mishima from "Tekken", June Lin Milliam from "Star Gladiator", and Captain Commando from "Captain Commando".
Sanshiro became the Japanese mascot for SEGA Saturn between 1997 and 1998. He later rose to fame because of the crazed commercials he starred in; such as when he was seen attacking a group of kids who took gaming trivially. The character was portrayed by actor Hiroshi Fujioka, who also played the hero Takeshi Hongo in Kamen Rider 1.
Geek Snack reported that new information regarding these characters will be divulged in the coming issues of Famitsu. The online magazine also mentioned that there will be 7 allies and 4 enemies in "Project X Zone 2". Fans of the series can also have a glimpse on some images from the game's opening animation which will be published in the next issue. As Famitsu is known to leak images before a game's release, screenshots may emerge online soon in the site.
Two weeks ago, the official Japanese website of "Project X Zone 2" had been updated. The current website now includes some screenshots which discloses some of the gameplay mechanics and the skill structure, the shops, menus, among others.
Three new unfamiliar faces will also be seen in "Project X Zone 2", as reported in Siliconera. The game is known for mixing characters from other companies and franchises, and yet sometimes, it will tip players off with unusual characters. Aty from "Summon Night", Ciel which originally appeared in "God Eater 2", and Hibana from the Playstation 2 game "Nightshade." These will be the three heroines in this sequel of "Project X Zone".
The sequel will also feature several characters taken from Bandai Namco, Capcom and SEGA series. This will include Mega Man X and Zero from "Mega Man X"; Ryu and Ken from "Street Fighter"; Yuri, Estelle, and Flynn from "Tales of Vesperia"; Jin Kazama from "Tekken"; Dante and Lady from "Devil May Cry", and a lot more.
Introducing and mixing in characters from other franchises had been a formula for developers to invite other players to try out their game, and "Project X Zone 2" is just one among them. This also proves how wide and accommodating the gaming industry is. And although initial announcements said that the sequel will be released simultaneously in Japan and in the West; the North America launch was later on suspended. The game will come out in Western shores in early 2016.
