As Star Trek celebrates its TV premiere 49 years ago, several unexpected, and maybe even shocking details about Kirk, Spock and McCoy are released. In the midst of filming, Star Trek Beyond continues to create buzz with new information on the film's Trinity.
Starting off with Captain Kirk, Reuters reports that the courageous hero, abandoned his son. Author and TV writer David A. Goodman, who also wrote the Star Trek: Enterprise, releases a new book imagining new details about the Captain's life.
Entitled "The Autobiography of James T. Kirk - The Story of Starfleet's Greatest Captain", it includes details such as Edith Keeler as "the great love of his life", but not the mother of his son. An unsent letter Kirk wrote for his son and illustrations like his Starfleet Academy class graduation photo are also in the book.
On the other hand Mr. Spock makes news as the actor playing him, Zachary Quinto, talked about his "spiritual connection" with the original Spock, Leonard Nimoy. According to The Daily Mail UK, Quinto revealed that he was the only person to audition for the first Star Trek film in 2009. Nimoy who had a hand in making the film, saw some Quinto's work and decided that the actor was a "good pick".
Before Nimoy passed away in February, the two Spock actors had built an irrefutable friendship. The Star Trek Beyond star also became friends with his predecessor's family and his deep connection with Mr. Spock, has helped him be embraced by the fans.
Meanwhile, Dr. McCoy and his relationship with Spock will take a closer inspection in the upcoming movie. According to the Movie Pilot, the 'humanistic doctor' and the 'logical Science Officer' will finally. While their characters are intended to work in harmony, it will be interesting to see how they will do so, as they are so "diametrically opposed."
Bones and Spock's banter and possibly arguments will take more part in Star Trek Beyond. Incidentally, Dr. McCoy's nickname, Bones, will also be explained in the Captain Kirk autobiography mentioned earlier.
Star Trek Beyond hits the theatres on 8 July 2016. While it is still a long way from its release, the impact of these details is yet to be seen for the film. Fans and audiences will surely await for more news as these new bits of information on Kirk, Spock and McCoy are revealed.
