The game is known to be in alliance with Omega Force, which is responsible for Dynasty Warriors. As reported by Hardcore Gamer, the particular Dragon Quest title will be a combination of different gaming themes.

According to Game Revolution, Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and The Blight Below will be a merge of a hack-and-slash game and role playing game. The diversity of bot styles make the game a lot more interesting; a more combative, straight-forward approach is instilled by said hack-and-slash, and a more strategic feel will come to play with the RPG theme.
