‘Man Down’ Star Shia Labeouf Claims He’s Suicidal While Portraying a PTSD-Suffering U.S. Marine Role

Shia Labeouf admits he's suicidal when filming his latest movie, "Man Down." The actor confessed that the project arrived at the right time when he's in the darkest moment of his life. He claimed, the project comes as a therapy for him.

Labeouf portrays the role of Gabriel, a U.S. marine, who is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and challenged by the fact that upon his return from Afghanistan, his wife and son have gone missing. It was his most challenging role to date and it came up the time that he was in his darkest place, The Daily Beast reports. It's not a secret that the "Transformers" actor has had peculiar appearances from emerging with a paper bag on his head in a movie premiere to altercation with the police. He was also seen shouting to an audience in a Broadway show.

At the "Man Down" premiere at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday, when the 29-year-old actor was asked what dark place he had to go while making the film, his answer was shocking to the reporters.

"Suicidal, and... you know.. you try your hardest, you know? You jump onto some other train of thought, or some other passion, or fall in love with another creative process and find yourself somewhere else."

Labeouf, who was known for his scruffy appearance in the past was seen in a formal sharp black tuxedo in the festival. It was his second film with director Dito Montiel, with whom he filmed the 2006's "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints." He filmed that working with Montiel was like a "therapy," INQUISITR reports.

"He came to my house when I was in a really low place and offered it to me like therapy, like 'here's a healing process so we can jump into together and get well,'" LaBeouf told reporters. The "American Honey" star also dished that he had a nice time working with Gary Oldman. He claimed he's now going to only work with friends, according to ABC News.

Labeouf is now romantically linked to his "American Honey" costar Sasha Lane. After the controversial fight with his ex girlfriend Mia Goth in Germany, the two were rumored to be getting cozy while filming the movie. It seems that the actor has got a lot better from the dark place he claimed he was then. Definitely, he's not suicidal anymore.
