Ellen DeGeneres recently had Caitlyn Jenner on her show, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." It was during Jenner's first talk show interview with the comedian that they discussed gay marriage and Caitlyn's opinion on it. In a surprising turn of events, Ellen got confused when the guest star revealed she's not 100% keen on the idea of gay marriage.
According to a report from E Online, Caitlyn stated how she was "not for" gay marriage in the past. Though the 65-year-old transgender clarified her statement by saying her views had changed over the years and she would never want to stand in the way of anyone's happiness, the show's host was not 100% convinced.
Radar Online reported that after the interview took place, Ellen opened up to Howard Stern on his show, "The Howard Stern Show" regarding Jenner's previous statement. "She still has a judgment about gay marriage," the talk show host explained. "I said, 'you're wanting people to understand and accept you, and you still have a judgment about gay people and marriage.'"
Ellen continued with "And she goes, 'Well, if the word 'marriage' is that important.. and I was like, 'It is, because that's the word.' Like, we want the same thing." The 57-year-old talk show host also explained how she wouldn't join in with the traditional dance portion on her show. Ellen even said the reason may be because she's a lesbian and Jenner might not be comfortable dancing with a lesbian.
In another report from New York Daily News, despite Ellen being confused regarding the whole Caitlyn and gay marriage matter, the 'Ellen DeGeneres' host still said the interview with the "I Am Cait" star was "a great" one.
Ellen then went on saying how she's trying to understand Caitlyn's life change as it is completely different to hers. Toward the end of the topic Ellen agreed that she, too, wants' everyone to be happy, including Caitlyn.
Caitlyn Jenner has yet to make any comment on Ellen DeGeneres interview with Howard Stern. Though Ellen openly admitted she's still confused with how Caitlyn isn't 100% supportive on gay marriage, the comedian wished Caitlyn all the best and understands how they both took different paths in their lives, which may be the reason to their different opinions and views on the matter.
