Idris Elba not fit for the role of James Bond, says series author Anthony Horowitz

Actor Idris Elba's name has recently made a buzz as he frontruns the list of potential actors that could be the new James Bond. The author of the popular series, however, thinks otherwise as he is reportedly not fit for the part.

Elba is the most popular choice to take the part in the franchise. Many believes there's a lot more to him than just his being good at doing action films that would make him right for the role of James Bond. But according to The Verge, the author of Bond, Anthony Horowitz, suggested that Elba might not be right for the part. Horowitz was placed on a hot seat when he stated that the actor is not right for it. He was identified as a racist, the fans believing that it seemed like the author sees the actor as "too black" for the part.

The 60-year-old British author stated that it was his intention to go back to the true and original Bond, as reported by Yahoo News. He insisted that not seeing Elba to be right for the part has nothing to do with his skin color, convincing the audience that he is not at all racist. According to him, Elba is too rough and too street for the role. He exclaims that his aim was to make the most authentic James Bond novel. He even identifies the latest Bond, Daniel Craig, to be a failure as a Bond in his last film "Skyfall".

As reported by Forbes, when Craig became James Bond for the movie "Casino Royale", he was still a little unknown of an actor at the time which was back in 2006. Knowing that the past actors casted up as James Bond were not much known back in their time before they took the role, Elba has a chance to get the next role once Craig steps down as James Bond.

The Bond stories are among the top-selling fictional book series. Making it into a movie and casting the right Bond is just as important as the story it tells.
