Fanatec Shows Off "Forza Motorsport" Wheel Rim for Xbox One

By

Fanatec and Turn 10 collaborated to create the newest entry to the "Forza Motorsport" franchise - the Fanatec ClubSport Wheel Rim GT for Xbox One. The black-leather trimmed rim debuts just in time for the launch of "Forza Motorsport 6" Ultimate Edition. This will be available as a separate item or can be purchased with the Universal Wheel Huba.

According to Thomas Jackermeier, CEO of Endor AG/Fanatec, on a statement which appeared on Fanatec's Forum, "Fanatec and Turn 10 Studios are great partners as we are both aiming for maximum realism. It is very efficient to work closely together so that our customers can get such an immersive experience."

The two were the ones responsible for the Porsche 911 Turbo S and Porsche 911 GT2 steering wheels. For quite some time, these were the exclusive wheels with forceback feature for Xbox 360 and had set new standard with regard to performance, features, and compatibility. The first "Forza Motorsport" licensed wheels - CSR and CSR Elite steering wheels - came out in 2011, heralding a complete new era in the realm of consoles.

The "Forza Motorsport 6" wheel rim measures an acceptable 330 mm diameter, the same size in many real-life GT race cars, mentioned in an Inside Sim Racing report. The genuine leather cover was held together by white stitches. It has the "Forza Motorsport" terms and the official logo embroidered into it as well.

The rim can be purchased as a standalone item or together with the Clubsport Steering Wheel Universal Hub for Xbox One. The wheel alone costs $99.95, while the wheel and hub retails at $399.90. Those interested can now pre-order, but the wheel and hub will be available on September 15 in Europe, Australia, and Japan. On the other hand, the rim will start to roll out not until October 30.

Its key features include the fully assembled aluminum wheel rim covered in authentic leather, according to GTPlanet. This is pre-configured to mount the GT "Forza Motorsport" rim (or similar), by just attaching a wheel rim with 6 screws. The connected wheel base is Xbox One compatible. Its button caps are detachable; with 16 integrated buttons on top of the hub and 4 button boxes with 3 buttons each. The Funky SwitchTM with 4-way direction pad has a 2-way turning function, push button, and comes with a metal knob.

The "Forza Motorsport 6" Clubsport Racing Wheel also has small and big shifter paddles for different rim diameters; with the bigger one fully adjustable in distance, width, and angle. These shifter paddles can be taken off to save weight. It has a LED display for Tuning or telemetry functions. It can be installed either on a flat or standing position. Lastly, it has a data port for future feature upgrades.

Fanatec is the brand name of Endor which was founded by Jackermeier in 1997. But it was only in 2006 when the company had focused on virtual racing markets, and now offers a wide variety of products like steering wheels, pedals, shifters, cockpits, among others. Although it has partnered with Turn 10 Studios on the "Forza Motorsport" franchise, Fanatec also has business ties with high-end car manufacturers such as BMW and Porsche.
