Is the Pirates of the Caribbean 5 something to look forward to? 'Maze Runner' star Kaya Scodelario talks about the upcoming franchise

By

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" has been dipping in quality after each passing installment. When elements of the first movie that worked were stripped away, a long-winded mess was left; that despite being visually stunning, it lacked the heart of its first routing. The franchise, however, intends to get back to its roots.

In related news, Latin Post reported that Disney plans to roll out "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" with some hopeful new additions and that the studio hopes to return with the original formula - one of the main criticisms of the franchise.

It has recently been announced that "Maze Runner" actress Kaya Scodelario will star in the said film and was able to expand on her perspective toward the movie's new take during an interview with Digital Spy.

"It [does have] a lot more of the first movie, that's what they wanted to bring it back to," Scodelario explained. "[The producers] want to take it back to the beginning again. They wanted it to have this epic journey, and for it to make sense, and for it to tie things up, and also lead to new storylines."

Based on what she said, it gives a hint towards a possible continuation of the franchise, which seeks to streamline the action and story of the next outing.

Cinema Blend, on the other hand, said that while nobody will agree as to call "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" as a grounded film, which features skeleton pirates after all, its concept and story were relatively simple compared to what followed it.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales", in particular, focuses on Javier Bardem's Captain Salazar as he pursues Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow as he is searching for King Poseidon's trident. And beyond that, the plot seems fairly straightforward and uncomplicated.

While there is no concrete idea as to what the next Pirate of the Caribbean franchise will be, fans can only hope for this franchise to improve from its previous lackluster installments. "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" sails into theaters on July 7, 2017.
