Ellen Page and her girlfriend Samantha Thomas make their first red carpet appearance together at the premiere of Page's new movie "Freeheld" during the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival held at Roy Thomson Hall on Sunday in Toronto, Canada. The couple came to the event wearing Tuxedo ensembles. Furthermore, they walked the red carpet hand in hand.
When Ellen was asked why they chose the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival to make their first official public appearance as a couple, she replied, "I'm in love." She exclusively told E! News, "walking down the carpet holding my girlfriend's hand is pretty special."
Last month, Ellen Page was reported to have been spotted in the streets of New York with artist and avid surfer, Thomas. They looked very casual and they had their arms wrapped around each other most of the time. Moreover, a source has revealed that the actress has been dating Samantha Thomas for seven months.
Rumors of Page's sexual orientation have begun to circulate back when her critically acclaimed film Juno debuted in 2007, but it was on February of 2014 that she came out as a Lesbian during a very emotional speech at the Time to THRIVE conference in Las Vegas, according to PopSugar.
Page's new movie "Freeheld" is based on a true story of a lesbian couple fighting a legal battle for domestic partner rights. Set in New Jersey, Page plays mechanic Stacie Andre who isn't legally permitted to receive pension rights from her terminally ill police detective partner Laurel Hester, played by Julienne Moore. Furthermore, the actress who also happens to be a producer of "Freeheld" has revealed that it was the movie that encouraged her to come out as a Lesbian. She has also told Entertainment Weekly, "the feeling of being out and playing someone who's gay, and someone whose courage has allowed me to live my life, that feels amazing. People like Laurel and Stacie are the reason I feel so happy in my life now.
Ellen Page and Samantha Tomas are indeed in love and proud of it. More public appearances are expected from the couple after their recent appearance in Toronto, Canada.
