'Crimson Peak' director Guillermo del Toro calls the new project his "kinkiest film". A new exclusive clip shows Jessica Chastain's Lady Lucille Sharpe and Mia Wasikowska's Edith Cushing exchange welcomes in the Sharpe family residence. It may be a precedence of their chilly relationship as on-screen in-laws.
According to Inverse, director Del Toro referred to his new film as the "kinkiest" he had ever made. He previously admitted that his upcoming R-rated flick is not a horror film full of monsters but instead a powerful gothic romance. It was also reported that leading actor Tom Hiddleston hinted on the movie's underlying sensual undertones, including elements of incest between his character and Chastain's.
The English actor will play Sir Thomas Sharpe - a charming yet enigmatic gentleman who sweeps Edith off her feet and takes her home to his crumbling old mansion on top of a hill. The film is set in a largely rural and mountainous region in 19th century England. Hiddleston had been actively promoting his new film through several of his personal social media accounts.
Del Toro is well known for several dark fantasy pieces under his belt including the 2006 cult favorite 'Pan's Labyrinth'. He is also credited with supernatural action films such as 'Blade II' and the 'Hellboy' series. His latest project will follow a young novelist who marries a mysterious stranger and finds herself immersed in a nightmarish household full of ominous secrets, according to Inquisitr.
A newly released official clip from 'Crimson Peak' as shared by Entertainment Weekly shows the sinister Lady Lucille Sharpe welcoming Edith Cushing into the family home she shares with her brother Sir Thomas Sharpe. Chastain's character didn't seem all too hospitable towards Wasikowska's. The frigid scene offered a tidbit of the impending doom to be experienced by Wasikowska's Edith.
'Crimson Peak' is set for release on October 16, 2015. It is directed, co-written and co-produced by the multi-awarded Mexican filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. Actors Charlie Hunnam, Jim Beaver, Leslie Hope, Burn Gorman and Doug Jones will also be in the film.
