Bloomberg reported that Vodafone made an informal takeover bid for Kabel Deutschland Holding AG, Germany's biggest cable company. The offer was initiated within the past week according to people who have knowledge of the matter.
Discussions for said takeover were not formally started. This was because Kabel Deutschland sees the offered price by Vodafone to be lower than what is expected. This was according to Bloomberg citing sources who were not authorized to talk about the matter publicly.
Another source told Reuters in February that Vodafone was proposing a US$13.27 billion takeover bid for the cable company. Vodafone aims to expand its services in Germany, Europe's largest economy.
Analysts expected for discussions to die down after Vodafone made a deal last month with Deutsche Telekom AG. The deal allowed Vodafone to offer pay-TV over high speed broadband to German clients.
A spokesperson from Vodafone refused to comment with said deal. Kabel Deutschland was not available to give statements regarding the said agreement.
