Disney's mega box office hit animated 2013 movie, Frozen, earned a total of $1.26 billion currently standing as the highest grossing animated feature film ever made. In addition, the movie is the eighth highest grossing films overall.
Garnering two Academy Awards, a Golden Globe award, the BAFTA award, five Annie awards, two Grammy awards and two Critics' Choice Movie awards, the "Frozen" has the biggest opening for Walt Disney Animation Studio in November 27, 2013. As it was recorded, the film's digital debut was the biggest digital release as it held number one on the Nielsen overall disc charts for eight inconsecutive weeks, according to Broadway World.
However, reports sprouted that "Frozen" may possibly take one step down. With just under $20 million difference with the "Minions", an article on Cinemablend indicates that "Despicable Me" is slowly but steadily making its way closer to the overall ranking of the "Frozen" film. If this leads to more sales, it is highly possible that "Minions" may take over the first place having "Frozen" at the second place.
Meanwhile, MTV reported that "Minions" still has to be released in Greece on September 24, so, it needs to earn another $20 million to catch up with "Frozen". It may seem hard but the little yellow guys seem to fit in the crowd as well. It seemed like they are so much ready to take Queen Elsa's crown.
Moreover, the Frozen's certified triple Platinum soundtrack which sold more than 3.6 million units is the top best-selling album of 2014 to date. But, even if the movie has been released two years ago, the product popularity continues to escalate.
Frozen's "Let it Go" has gone worldwide. The movie itself was a blast. And everyone was capativated with the it, highly anticipating for the sequel movie.
However, another animated film is on the threshold of overtaking Elsa and Anna's record. It appeared like the "Minions" has had to earn nearly sufficient money to be on the number one.
