Apple delays the release of the watchOS 2 today. The roll out of the highly anticipated new watch operating system has been announced to be on September 16, but plans have changed due to a bug discovered.
Apple Watch users seem to have to wait a little longer for the roll out of the watchOS 2. Amy Bessette, Apple's spokeswoman, told BuzzFeed News that they have discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than they expected. And that they will not be releasing watchOS today, but will shortly.
Sometime last year, Apple has also encountered a similar issue when iOS 8 was released. The bug in Apple's HealthKit health and fitness application platform prevented the release of the operating system, but eventually solved the problem.
The watchOS 2 is designed to help Apple Watch users customize their watch and allow applications to load faster. It may have taken design cues from the iOS 8, but is still built from the ground up for the Apple Watch. Moreover, watchOS 2 brings a lot of necessary and new functionality to the Apple Watch. Better third-party applications for all users are expected, like Activity and Workout, which read data from the accelerometer.
A support for native applications is also included in this new watch operating system. This means that the applications will be able to run completely on the Apple Watch without relying on the iPhone. It allows developers to access the device's built-in heart rate sensor, accelerometer, microphone, and Taptic Engine. In addition, it includes expanded Siri support, photo watch faces, the ability to travel through a timeline to check weather and appointments, transit directions, as well as expanded WiFi support when out of range of an iPhone.
There is no official release date again of the watchOS 2 yet. Thus, all Apple Watch users just have to wait patiently for Apple is doing its best in order for everyone to enjoy the ultimate smartwatch experience without any hassle.
