Google's latest mobile operating system, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which is set to be unveiled very soon, might be coming to Moto X Play and Moto X Pure Edition devices. The highly anticipated Android operating system is expected to roll out later this month or in early October.
In July, Motorola has released its latest flagship smartphones, the Moto X Play and Moto X Pure Edition. These two handsets are alleged to first get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update after its official release this year.
Moto X Pure Edition is now available for pre-orders through Motorola's official website starting at $399.99. It features 3GB of RAM, up to 64GB built-in memory, a six-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 5.7-inch Quad HD display, and 21-megapixel rear camera. On the other hand, the Moto X Play is the smaller and more affordable variant that is currently unavailable yet in the United States. This handset has a 5.5-inch full HD screen with 1.7GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset. Moreover, it includes 2GB of RAM, 3630 mAh battery, and 21-megapixel primary camera.
Since the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be released over-the-air (OTA), various devices will also receive it at different times, maybe sooner or later. Its installation size is expected to be more than 500MB, as it is a major upgrade. In order to verify the update manually, just go to the device's Settings, then click About Device, and finally check for Software Update.
Additionally, it is good to know that the upgrade will be prompted automatically when it is available for the user's device. The changes which are expected to come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, include a new API level 23 to support the fingerprint scanner, an option for emergency calls that automatically appears in case the handset is anticipating some trouble, ability to rotate the home screen, as well as improved battery life and error reporting.
