Samsung recently launched a new ad that focused on the Galaxy Tab S2 elevating user downtime. The ad is believed to be Samsung's answer to Apple's business-focused iPad Pro.
The Galaxy Tab S2 is Samsung's next generation of Tab units. It was the star of the show in Samsung's latest ad that indirectly targeted Apple's iPad Pro. According to the International Business Times, the Samsung ad positioned the Galaxy Tab S2 as a device made for the user's downtime or relaxation time.
The ad titled "Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 - Elevate Your Downtime" may be interpreted in many ways. It might say the message that the Galaxy Tab S2 cannot be used in an office or other business settings. One might see the ad as indirectly conveying the idea that the Apple iPad Pro, Galaxy Tab S2's closest competition, is not meant for leisure use.
In the ad, Samsung said," Downtime is too important to be wasted or forgotten, we need time to escape. Elevate your downtime with the Galaxy Tab S2, built with the technology you need to relax." Samsung wanted customers to see the importance of making wise use of their downtime through the Galaxy Tab S2.
This is not the first time Samsung attacked Apple in its commercials. BGR reported that another Samsung ad titled "Samsung Galaxy - Open to Customization" was intended for the iPhone. The ad focused on the message that Samsung devices can be personalized by the user to make it their own.
A previous ad by Apple bears the tagline: "If it doesn't look like an iPhone, it's not an iPhone." Samsung retorted with this tagline on the ad: "If it doesn't look like your phone, it's not your phone".
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 and Apple iPad Pro are perceived as neck-to-neck rivals in the tablet market. eWeek made a comparison on what both devices have to offer to consumers. In terms of storage, the Apple iPad Pro comes in 32GB and 128GB versions. On the other hand, Samsung offers a 32GB and 64GB tabs with expandable memory up to 128GB.
Both the iPad Pro and the Galaxy Tab S2 feature an upgraded screen display to provide sharp quality graphics. The iPad Pro has a bigger screen than its predecessors while Samsung's Galaxy Tab S2 has a Super AMOLED display perfect for gaming and entertainment. Both devices offer WiFi and LTE connectivity.
In assessment, it seems that both devices are closely matched. Although marketed as a business-centric device, the Apple iPad Pro rivals the Galaxy Tab S2 as an entertainment tablet. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 2015 commercial can be streamed online on YouTube.
