Samsung considers using both Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and its in-house Exynos chipsets for the Galaxy S7. The new flagship device of Samsung is believed to be one of the most expensive smartphones of 2016.
Phone Arena reports that a prototype of the Galaxy S7 codenamed "Lucky" was leaked in two benchmark test results. The first Samsung Lucky showed up as a Geekbench result with Exynos 8890 on board. The more recent prototype carrying Snapdragon 820 came out in an anTuTu benchmark result that showed the device's hardware and software specifications.
Other specs shown in the result showed the device running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Adreno 530 GPU, 4GB RAM, and 64GB ROM. It has a 16 MP main camera, a 5 MP front shooter, and a 5.7 inch panel with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution.
The results revealed that the Snapdragon 820's overall points were lower compared to that of Exynos 7420. However, it did obtain a higher score in 3D graphics. Yet, the Snapdragon 820 is still in development phase and the final version is expected to have further improvements.
Rumors say that Samsung will launch two variants of the Galaxy S7 to target different markets. Exynos chipsets will be used for the Galaxy S7 variants to be sold in South Korean markets while Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 will run the phones intended for the international market. The company is said to be experimenting with and optimizing Snapdragon 820 for its new flagship.
According to Tech Times, the Samsung Galaxy S7 will arrive in two sizes, one with 5.2 inch display and the bigger with 5.8 inch screen. The Galaxy S7 will presumably have a dual-camera setup just like the HTC One M8. However, unlike the One M8, Samsung says that it has developed a better code to maximize this technology.
The Galaxy S7 will allegedly be the first smartphone to sport a 6GB RAM, to be made possible by a 12GB LPDDR4 chip and 12nm technology. It will allow multitasking and optimum performance on the latest OS.
Master Herald reports that the Galaxy S7 will be one of the most expensive phones come 2016. Packed with powerful features and specs, it will rival HTC's upcoming device with 10-core processor and the recently launched iPhone 6s.
As of today, there is no definite price and release date yet for the Samsung Galaxy S7. The company is positioning the new flagship as superior to the Galaxy S6 and earlier phones by making sure the Galaxy S7 is carrying the most powerful processor on board.
