‘Oujia 2’ Updates: 'Twilight's' Elizabeth Reaser to star alongside Annalise Basso; Director Mike Flanagan’s film release in October 2016

'Ouija 2' is set to feature Elizabeth Reaser of 'The Twilight Saga' fame. She will star alongside female lead Annalise Basso for a yet confirmed character. Director Mike Flanagan's film is scheduled for release on October 21, 2016.

According to Deadline, Elizabeth Reaser is the latest to join the cast of the upcoming supernatural film based on the popular board game by toy company Hasbro. The 40-year old actress is best known as Esme Cullen of 'The Twilight Saga' series of films. She also appeared in notable several television shows such as 'Mad Men', 'True Detective', 'The Good Wife' and 'Grey's Anatomy'.

Reaser is set to star alongside Annalise Basso according to another article by Empire. The latter previously worked with director Mike Flanagan on the 2013 supernatural-horror film 'Oculus'. It was reported that 'Ouija 2' will revolve around Basso's character who will use the Ouija board as a means to contact her departed father in the spirit world.

Flanagan is co-writing the screenplay with Jeff Howard, according to another article by Bloody Disgusting. It will be produced by Platinum Dunes' Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, and Michael Bay, Blumhouse's Jason Blum, and Hasbro's Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis. The project, to be released on October 21, 2016, is a collaboration between Universal Pictures, Platinum Dunes, Blumhouse Productions and Hasbro.

The American filmmaker is credited for his work on films such as 'Gerald's Game', 'Before I Wake', and 'Absentia'. He is also tagged to write a 2016 remake of the cult favorite 'I Know What You Did Last Summer'.

'Ouija 2' is a sequel to the 2014 surprise hit directed by Stiles White. Although its predecessor was met with fairly negative criticism, it proved to be a box office success earning $102 million against a $5 million budget. The film was also adapted into a novel by author Katharine Turner.
