Motorola DROID Maxx, DROID Turbo, DROID Ultra, and DROID Mini are slated to get the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update very soon. According to earlier news, the DROID series is among Motorola's lineup of 17 devices to get the final software version of Lollipop.
Following the confirmation straight from a Motorola support page, DROID Maxx, DROID Turbo, DROID Ultra, and DROID Mini will get the Android 5.1.1 OS alongside the long-term solution to Stagefright vulnerability. The Lollipop update will also bring in new features and improvements.
Motorola is also set to release the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to Moto G (2015), Moto G (2014, Moto G (2013), Moto G LTE (2014), Moto G LTE (2013), Moto E (2014), Moto E (2013), Moto E LTE, Moto X (2014), Moto X (2013), Moto X Pro, Moto Maxx, and Moto Turbo. The upcoming flagship smartphones Moto X Style and Moto X Pure Edition are expected to run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow software.

The DROID series both unlocked versions and under mobile carriers will be treated with a better user interface, Android Pay, support for USB Type-C and fingerprint scanner, device sharing and syncing, and a lot more. As per changelist acquired from Motorola, the company's native features will also be incorporated in the update including:
- Pressing up and down volume bars will bring the graphic up. Tapping the button on the right expands the volume menu
- New icons for the settings menu
- Changing icon size in home launcher settings is enabled
- Tapping the icon on the left side twice silences the phone.
The update shall come via over-the-air release. Before proceeding with the installation, make sure the battery is charged to at least 50% and storage has enough memory space. The update will be rolled out in stages. If prompted for the update, here's a quick guide:
1. Tap "Yes, I'm in."
2. Tap "Install now."
3. Wait for the phone to restart automatically until update is complete.
