At the start of the week, news broke that Disney is working on the remake of "Mary Poppins" franchise. Reports have cited names of beautiful stars that are qualified for the role in the remake of the "Mary Poppins" are cited.
First in the list is Anne Hathaway who is considered as the "favourite" star fitted for the role, obviously, she can act and sing. The next one was Emily Blunt and the others are a little bit uncertain.
In an article on Daily Mail, it was still uncertain if Hathaway has heard that she is undeniably the most favourite star to play the role as "Mary Poppins" in the newly announced Disney franchise reboot. According to the report, she got 6/4 odds of having the role by the Irish Betting agency, Boyle Sports. Besides, she has shown the ability in "Les Miserables" making it possible to land for the role.
The bettors' second choice is Emily Blunt with 5/2 odds followed by Amy Adams with 7/2 odds, Kristen Bell with 11/2 and Anna Kendrick with 10/1. However, Den of Geek has rumoredly reported that the role was offered to Emily Blunt (Into the Woods). Although it was not yet confirmed, sources said that the deal was done few weeks ago and the star will probably accept it.
According to FOX News, the movie remake is quite something to be excited for but, there are still people who are unhappy about it. Dan Gainor, VP of Business and culture for the Media Research Center, insisted that Hollywood should make a new and original movie instead of wasting "streams of big budget remakes that lack the skill, acting and the verve of the originals." He continued, "Hollywood should find some new ideas and stop destroying old ones."
This new "Mary Poppins" musical film will be helmed by Rob Marshall (Chicago, Nine, and Into the Woods). In addition, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman will start writing up new classical songs for the classical version of the movie.
Although there are no further details about the project yet, it is speculated that the plot will be based on the latter books in the P.L Travers series picking up about 20 years after the original film. There is no announced release date yet, but it is anticipated in 2017.
